The Hervisions Initiative

Growing up I would fill notebooks with poems, short stories, essay's, and lyrics, each of which told their own unique stories. Writing was an escape for me, it was how I would express myself, and has even got me through some traumatic experiences.  It wasn't until one day I was writing that I realized the stories I were creating needed to be heard. 

With the launch of  HERvisions Productions Company LLC,  I want to use my platform to give young black men and women the opportunity to not only share their feelings, but to share their stories, stories that we may need to hear or see. Under my production company I began a writing initiative for youth ages  11-15. The writing initiative will consist of a writing class where myself and children, get to know one another, share our feelings, laugh, and have serious discussions about their lives. At the end, they will be given time to write a short story about whatever we've talked about. If the young writer decides, HERvisions will help develop their story and eventually give them an opportunity to produce and share it with their peers. 

My goal with this initiative is to give children like myself a chance to not only learn how powerful words can be but to also use writing as an outlet in a world that barely gives them any.
